Just as Lulu Guinness copied several Enid Collins designs, Mary Norton (Moo Roo owner and designer), in turn, obviously was copying Lulu Guinness with this gorgeous creation. The Florist Basket handbag (original by Lulu, not Moo Roo), is even in the Victoria and Albert museum in England.
Mary Norton produced wonderfully whimsical handbags from 1998 to 2006. They were often seen at red-carpet events on the arms of such celebrities as Sharon Stone, Reese Witherspoon (who had a bag named after her), Tiny Fay, Paris Hilton, Hallie Barry, and more.
This bag is signed by Mary Norton and dated 2001 (faint on inside lid.) The color of the roses is brilliant, eye-catching and, well, drop-dead gorgeous. While the deep red roses on these baskets (whether Lulu or Moo Roo) are in demand and highly coveted, we actually find the rarer peach roses to stand out more vividly against the black purse. This bag measures approximately 11" to the top of the handle. Widest width at the flowers is about 6-1/2". The bag tapers down and the bottom measure a dainty 3-3/4" x 3-1/2".
It has a single snap closure in front. There is a long black shoulder strap attached inside, but we can't imagine anyone using it. This bag deserves to be carried and shown off. Inside we found the Moo Roo tag which is included.
Like new condition. No signs of wear. No fading, odor, scrapes, marks, dirt or stains.
Moo Roo bags are even harder to come by than Lulu. Take this amazing creation to your next red-carpet event and Wow 'em!
Fun Fact: The name Moo Roo came from Mary's nickname for her girls, Micah and Reilly. Lots more photos:
